The Pain Management and Injury Relief Medical center was founded by Alexander P. Hersel, M.D. to provide a variety of treatments for both acute and chronic pain conditions. Dr. Hersel performs all interventional pain
management procedures, in addition to management of medications for the treatment of the most challenging pain conditions.

Dr. Hersel attended Medical School at The Hahnemann University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in anesthesia and critical care at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Hersel completed his residency in Anesthesiology and Critical Care medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell Medial Center. He obtained his Fellowship in Pain Management at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Dr. Hersel is nationally known for being one of the few highly trained physicians performing Spinal Cord Stimulator Implants for failed back surgery syndrome. In addition, he performs epidural steroid injections for the majority of spine surgeons in Santa Monica and Ventura County.

Dr. Hersel’s practice is open to new patients at both locations in Thousand Oaks and Santa Monica, California.

 
 
 

Dr. Peterson is the latest addition to the thriving Pain Management & Injury Relief Medical Center. A native of Minnesota, Dr. Peterson arrived in Southern California after undergoing much of his training on the East Coast. He excelled at The George Washington University School of Medicine and completed residency in anesthesiology at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City. Subsequently, he completed fellowship in Pain Management at the UCLA Medical Center.

Dr. Peterson is also highly proficient in interventional procedures aimed at the treatment of
neck and low back pain, abdominal, pelvic, and joint pain, cancer pain, neuropathy, and sympathetic-
mediated pain syndromes. He is also a skilled Spinal Cord Stimulator implant surgeon.
Dr. Peterson’s growing practice is seeing new patients at all Medical Center locations.

 
 
Dr. Okhovat started his medical career at UCLA, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Science. He studied medicine at Ross University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Neurology at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles. He finished his training at UCLA with a Fellowship in Neuromuscular Disorders and now provides specialization in diagnosing and treating diseases of the nerves and muscles. Dr. Okhovat has special training in utilizing the EMG and nerve Conduction tests to help aide in the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions.
